Scholarship Opportunities

 

The Arkansas Speech Language Hearing Association offers scholarships to graduate students in speech-language pathology and audiology.
You must be a member of ArkSHA.  An application is available at www.arksha.org.  Application deadline is Sept. 30, 2005.


The American Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation  invites full time graduate students in communication sciences and disorders to submit applications in competition for 1 of 10 scholarship awards. Scholarship's are open to master's and doctoral students. Eligibility is determined by graduate study, academic and personal merit and prior funding. To apply, you must include the student information form, letter of application, letter of good standing, transcripts, GPA, a essay, and a confidential reference form. Submit the completed original application form collated with all the accompanying documents and six additional sets of the original packet, to be received no later than June 3, 2005, to:

Conway Regional Health Foundation is currently accepting applications for the 2005-2006 scholarships. All area students who are currently enrolled or beginning their education, on a full-time basis, in a health related career field are invited to apply. An application packet is available on the website at www.conwayregional.org

There are thirteen scholarships available from different funds. Applicants will be considered for all scholarships for which they are eligible, but are limited to one scholarship per school year. Recipients will be notified by April 30, 2005 and will be recognized at a reception at Conway Regional in May. The deadline for submission of completed applications is Thursday, March 31, 2005.

University Women Scholarship

Applications are now available for book scholarships given each year to non-traditional women students by University Women, a nonprofit campus organization at the University of Central Arkansas.

University Women will award three $200 book scholarships to non-traditional women students, who can demonstrate a need for financial assistance. Applicants should be at least 23 years old, currently enrolled at UCA, with a minimum GPA of 3.25 in all classes. Students must already have earned at least 12 hours; no more than nine hours may be in transitional classes. Both graduate students and undergraduate students are eligible. Arkansas Rehabilitation Association is once again offering the A.R.S. Commisioner's Scholarship to full-time graduate and undergraduate students at universities located in the state of Arkansas majoring in Rehabilitation counseling or a rehabilitation related field. Applicants must have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 and demonstrate knowledge of NRA, ARA, RSA and ARS during an interview with the scholarship committee. Applicants must submit the following items no later than 4:30 p.m. March 17, 2005: a cover sheet listing email address, mailing address, home, work and cell phone numbers; a letter giving the reasons they chose their field of study, current school status, financial need and future career goals; official copies of their transcripts; and three letters of recommendation, two being from an instructor at their University. Interviews will be held in Russellville on March 30, 2005 and Little Rock on March 31, or April 1, 2005.

Bilingual Therapies, Inc. is offering a scholarship for Graduate School. This scholarship can be used to attend any ASHA accredited Graduate Program in the country. To apply for the scholarship you must first apply to the program you are planning to attend. Upon acceptance you may apply for this scholarship by completing an application followed by an interview. Bilingual Therapies, Inc. contributes a stipend for living expenses in your final year of graduate school of $2,500 per semester to $5000. If awarded the scholarship, you must sign a contract to work full time for Bilingual Therapies for 1 year after graduation.

Opportunity for Tuition Reimbursement

RehabCare Group, Inc. is offering a tuition assistance and tuition forgiveness program called Opportunity U. It was created as a way to award hardworking students who begin their careers at RehabCare. Opportunity U helps you save on tuition costs one of two ways:

The Junior Auxiliary of Conway is seeking well-qualified applicants to apply for the National Association of Junior Auxiliaries, Inc (NAJA) graduate scholarship program. Applicants must be pursuing graduate level studies for one year in fields that address the special needs of children and youth, including speech pathology. Applicants must be an U.S. citizen and a permanent resident of a state with a Junior Auxiliary Chapter (Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Tennessee, and Texas).

Applicants who are seeking the National scholarship must send the completed application and attachments to National Association  of Junior Auxiliaries, Inc. Applicants must have applied to a graduate program prior to submitting an application and must have acceptance confirmed by April 1, 2005. Recipients of the NAJA Graduate Scholarship may attend the college or university of their choice. The obligations of a recipient are: to inform himself/herself of the basic purposes of Junior Auxiliary, particularly the purpose of helping children; to maintain a high level of scholarship and behavior; and to accept when possible, speaking engagements beneficial to the NAJA Graduate Scholarship Program.

The American Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation invites master's and doctoral students to compete for the 2004 Student Research Grant in Early Childhood Language Development, supported by the Arlene Matkin Memorial Fund.  A single grant of $2,000 will be awarded in 2004.  The student must be enrolled for full-time study for the full academic year.  

Applicants must prepare a proposal following the Guidelines for Preparation of Proposal.  Applicants will submit the original and four copies of the completed proposal to :

The Arkansas Federation of Business and Professional Women offer educational grants to women college graduates who desire to further
their education by acquiring a Master's or Doctorate Degree.  Wilson Memorial Educational Grants are in the amount of $750.00

Applicants must:
1.    Make written application to the Federation;
2.    Have comparable grades as set forth by the college or university for attaining a Master's or Doctorate Degree;
3.    Attend an accredited college and/or university;
4.    Be a resident of the State of Arkansas;
5.    Present a copy of college transcripts upon making application for grant;
6.    Enclose a resume and a 3"x5" glossy black and white photograph with the application;
7.    Have two letters of recommendation;
8.    Have a statement of goals, major choice, and reason why the grant is needed.

Applications are located in the Speech-Language Pathology building. 

There is no limit to the number of applications received from any given college or university.

Deadline for the application is an April 1, 2004 postmark.

Arkansas Rehabilitation Association
A.R.S. Commissioner's Scholarship for $1500
One scholarship is available to students at UCA.

Applicants for this scholarship must meet the following criteria:

1.    Enrolled as a full-time graduate student (9 hours or more) or full-time undergraduate student (12 hours or more) in a college or
       university located in the state of Arkansas majoring in Rehabilitation Counseling or a Rehabilitation related field, and be in good
       standing at the school.
2.    Completed 75 semester hours of credit with a minimum grade point average of 2.5 (if undergraduate) and be in good standing at
       at the college or university.
3.    Demonstrate knowledge of NRA, ARA, RSA, and ARS, during the interview with the scholarship committee.

Applicants must submit the following items to the Scholarship Committee Chairperson no later than April 1, 2004.

1.    A cover sheet listing:  e-mail address, mailing address and phone number.

3.    Have payment of the scholarship divided equally according to school semesters.

Armstrong (Ethel Louise) Foundation

The sponsor provides scholarships ranging up to a maximum of $1000-$2000 per year to any woman with a physical disability who is
