Food for Thought: There are five dimensions of learning that teachers try to involve all students in.
From the simplest to the most complex, they are:
1) Perceptions and Attitudes (positive behavior and actions)
2) Acquire and Integrate Knowledge: rote memory, models, formulas, how new facts relate to previously learned facts.
3) Extend and Refine Knowledge: comparing, classifying, analyzing, inductive and deductive reasoning.
4) Use knowledge meaningfully: decision making, problem solving, inventing
5) Productive habits of mind: critical thinking, self-questioning, creative thinking, being aware of how your own thinking progresses.
