Download and bring this Excel spreadsheet to lab (using your laptop) if you want to use this during lab to help with the graphing required.

Before coming to lab, complete all preliminary calculations for making your particular buffer (based on the pH assigned). Know what acid/base system you will use and how much you need to measure to make your buffer. Q1 of the pre lab is a two part problem. Dilution to find [H+] then pH of a strong acid. For Q3 of the prelab use Tables of Ka values in the text. |

There is no prelab to hand in. However, read the required lecture text sections mentioned on the handout, and complete as much of the handout as you can before coming to lab. We will complete the worksheet during lab, handing it in at the end of the period. |

G Graphing is required for these experiments. Electronic graphs are encouraged. Feel free to bring your laptops to do
this in class. Alternatively, you can make e-copies of your graphs using your TI calculators.
