Literature Studies
The current chemical literature is a collection of journals that are
published either weekly or biweekly on all aspects of chemistry including the
inorganic sub-discipline. It is here that
chemists learn the latest developments and cutting edge research that is
continuing to form the foundation of chemistry.
You will
periodically be asked to peruse this current chemical literature (current year only) and choose an
article that illustrates some topic related to current lecture
discussions. Requests for these will be
announced in class. Some periodicals
resources are linked below.
Because of their ease of
access (made possible by your tuition dollars and the library fee), American
Chemical Society (ACS) electronic access journals are good sources to use. Some useful links are

Completed studies must example
· have your name
in the file (if sent electronically)
· be published in
the current year
· have the title
of the article, including authors
· have a complete citation:
Journal name, published year, volume, page(s). You may also include the DOI number for quick
referral.
· ASAP (ACS As Soon as Publishable) articles can be used. Their citation must include their Web-posting
calendar date.
· have at least three sentences in your own words (do not cut and paste from the article)
explaining how this article illustrates some of the current chemistry being
discussed in lecture. Be certain to include explicit and clear connections
between content in the article and a topic from lecture.
Deadlines for the these are
strictly enforced. Official receipt
times will be the time/date stamp when I receive them. Studies more than one day late will not be
accepted.
