E. E. & F. K. Cordrey Fund established in 1978

	The scholarship honors Everett E. Cordrey, who taught at the University of Central Arkansas for 36 years (from 1914, when the school was called the Arkansas State Normal School, until 1950, then the Arkansas State Teachers College). He served as professor, head of the science department, and dean of instruction during his tenure at the college. On his retirement in 1950, the science building was renamed Cordrey Hall in his honor. It remained standing until the early 1970's when it was torn down and the current Burdick Business Administration Center built on its site. The Department of Chemistry is currently housed in Laney Hall built in 1995.
	The scholarship is awarded for a maximum of four years, with annual renewal contingent on satisfactory progress toward a bachelor’s degree in chemistry including minimum G.P.A. requirements. Applications are typically accepted from prospective freshmen during the spring semester prior to their entering UCA the following fall. A committee of departmental faculty evaluates and votes on all applications.
