Imagine being able to have your PC with you at all times. Whether you were at home, work, school, or even at a local coffee shop you could access all of your personal files. On September 25, 2006, RingCube Technologies Inc. released new software called MojoPac that will make this incredible idea a reality. It has the possibility to transform your iPod, USB Hard Drive or Flash Drive, or even a cell phone into a completely portable, yet private PC. MojoPac allows all personal settings, applications, communication, music, and games to be transferred onto any computer without compromising the original system. It has the ability to eliminate many of the fears associated with the use of private information on public computers.

RingCube Technologies developed this software to make it easier for people to transport their data between multiple PCs. MojoPac turns any PC or laptop into your own personal computer no matter where you are. While your MojoPac PC is plugged into the host PC, it’s borrowing the host PC’s screen, processor, printer, CD/DVD drives, and internet connection. The MojoPac PC and the host PC exist simultaneously so you can toggle between the two using the MojoPac toolbar located at the top of the screen. The host PC’s settings do not have to be changed, nothing has to be installed on it, and any applications that are running on the host PC will work while you are using the MojoPac PC. The host PC’s operations are not compromised at all. The MojoPac PC is also secure. It is password protected so that no one can use it without authorization. It is also protected from any viruses or spyware that the host PC may contain. Finally, none of the application data or settings of the MojoPac PC can be viewed on the host PC, so no one can see where you have been while using MojoPac PC.

Creating a MojoPac PC is a fairly simple process. First, plug your portable storage device (iPod, USB device, or cell phone) into any computer with Windows XP. Then you go to www.mojopac.com and install MojoPac onto your device. You can now log into your MojoPac PC that you have just created and bring up the new desktop, called MojoView. This will look similar to a new Windows XP PC. Now you can install your various applications from MojoView. These applications will be available to use on any PC you connect to and run the MojoPac software on. Installing applications on your MojoPac PC are similar to installation on a standard PC. Simply load the CD/DVD or download items from the web. To make things simple, the “C” Drive that you see on your MojoView represents your MojoPac PC, not the host PC, so installation becomes almost automatic.

Using MojoPac software has many advantages and disadvantages. The major advantage to using MojoPac is its portability. Your can have your computer with you at all times. MojoPac can run simultaneously with the host PC without altering any of the host PC’s settings. When you leave the host PC, all of your sensitive information stays in your MojoPac PC, so it’s secure. You can also install many popular PC and online games into your MojoPac PC and play them anywhere. If you laptop’s battery is dead, all you would have to do is plug your MojoPac device into any other computer and resume work. All of your personal preferences will be the same as your original laptop settings, and won’t alter the host PC in any way. One key disadvantage is that in order to use MojoPac, you must be logged into the host PC as the administrator. This means that MojoPac will not be available to use in certain networks, like a university campus. Another drawback is the system requirements. Only a handful of applications are available to install on MojoPac, while many others still have not been tested. MojoPac only works on Windows XP, and will not work on PC’s that have upgraded to XP from Windows 2000. Currently, MojoPac is available to everyone for a free thirty day trial until the special introductory period is over on November 16, 2006. After the free trial period is over, a user must pay $29.99 for the initial license with up to three additional licenses for $14.99 each. After the special introductory period, users will pay $49.99 for the initial license and $24.99 for up to three additional licenses.

MojoPac has the ability to benefit everyone from high school students to CEOs of major companies. There are numerous applications that can be stored on a MojoPac device. Some of them include multimedia applications (iTunes, Windows Media Player), communications (AIM, Yahoo Messenger), internet browsers (Internet Explorer), productivity software (Microsoft Office, Quicken 2007) and various games. At home, each member of the family can have their own MojoPac. Mom and Dad can store reports and presentations, while kids can store their games and homework. This allows the home computer to function better because it doesn’t have to store all of these separate applications. Students can use MojoPac to transfer their homework and papers from home to school with ease. MojoPac can be a viable option to parents, students, and gaming advocates.

MojoPac will have a distinct impact on the business world. People will be able to write up a presentation at home, get on a plane, and present in Beijing the next morning using their personal computer that easily fits into their pockets. MojoPac eliminates the need for translation since you will be using your personal computer, which is already in English. With MojoPac, you can access your personal versions of Quicken, AOL Instant Messenger, or even PowerPoint anywhere in the world, at any time. This kind of software has never been available. Before MojoPac, you had to store a small amount of information on a disk, CD, or JumpDrive. Now, you can store an entire computer on a USB enabled device. Since computers are getting smaller and smaller, the possibilities are endless. In the future we could be using computers that are on ballpoint pens, wristwatches, maybe even through eyeglasses. MojoPac is a significant step towards an era of tiny computers that will be able to function beyond what our minds can grasp.

MojoPac will transform the way that everyone uses computers. From business professionals to the casual user, MojoPac will make it easier to take all of your personal information with you. You can carry your PC in your pocket and travel the world, accessing many of the applications that you need. Since it is in the development stage, pretty soon MojoPac will be able to support any application on any computer. Even though MojoPac is only available to install on iPods, USB hard drives or flash drives, or some cell phones, it can eventually be downloaded onto even smaller devices as technology increases. In the near future, we will all be using computers that will be more powerful and smaller than anything on the market today. MojoPac will permit the transfer of our private information onto these unbelievable devices.
