MISSION

The Department’s primary mission is to prepare speech-language pathologists who are capable and fully qualified to provide independent professional services in a variety of settings to individuals with a wide range of communication needs.  Excellence in classroom and clinical instruction is our primary focus.  Research and the scholarship of teaching and service are vital to the growth and development of our profession and are integral components of the Department.  Fostering a spirit of significant expectation and achievement in these areas among students and faculty is important as all strive to become a community of learners for lifelong development and continued professional participation.

A hallmark of the Department’s mission is responsiveness to the needs of the state and the profession.  The Department is committed to addressing these needs through collaborative approaches and innovative curricula.
