are chemicals synthesized by the
endocrine glands and secreted in the bloodstream.
Hormones affect the brain many other tissues of
the body.

For example, epinephrine (adrenaline) increases
heart rate, blood pressure, blood sugar and
feelings of excitement during emergency
situations.
