PSYC 3340 - Research Methods Laboratory

Course Syllabus - Summer II, 2002

INSTRUCTOR:

RESOURCES:

ATTENDANCE: Attendance and active participation is expected at every class meeting.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: The purpose of the course is to provide actual experience in the process of conducting psychological research. These experiences include designing research studies, conducting literature reviews, considering ethical guidelines, collecting data, graphing and analyzing data, and communicating research findings through poster presentation, Powerpoint presentation, and research reports (using APA format).

COURSE OBJECTIVES - GENERAL:

COURSE OBJECTIVES THAT RELATE TO TECHNOLOGY:

Students will understand how to:

CLASS STRUCTURE AND EXPECTATIONS:  Students in the class will be considered members of a research team.  As a member of a research team, each student should feel a responsibility to accept a variety of roles and to complete assignments for the other members of the team. Also, each student should be in a constant mode of critical thinking.  All ideas generated by the team will need to be critically evaluated.  Do NOT rely on Dr. Lammers to correct mistakes or make you aware of flaws in your research design.  This will truly be YOUR research and when you have completed a project, you should feel proud of your accomplishment.
