ATTENDANCE AND CLASS PARTICIPATION

Attendance weighs heavily in the decision on final grades. Official attendance begins the last day of drop and add. I do not recognize the "ten-minute rule" and you will be counted absent after role is taken and/or the classroom door is closed 10 minutes into the class. After the third unexcused absence you you may be dropped from the course with a WF. The use of cel phones, media players, or any other non-approved electronic device results in an absence recorded for that period. Reading, writing, or otherwise working on materials not directly related to the class results in a absence for that class period.

An excused absence is due to required attendance at a University function about which your faculty/staff sponsor has contacted the instructor by written or emailed notice, or written notice of admittance to a hospital. Please understand that you will still be required to make-up any missed work. If you find you cannot meet these expectations please initiate withdrawal procedures.

CONDUCT OF THE COURSE

Although I generally start the day with lecture, I would prefer to pose questions for our mutual discussion. Many of the discussions and most certainly the tests will be structured around the vocabulary introduced in each chapter. Additionally, you will have several opportunities to view theatrical performances, either live or on video-tape. Your three best critiques will be used to determine your critique grade. YOU ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND ALL ASSIGNED PLAYS.

ACADEMIC HONESY POLICY

Since honesty in the classroom or laboratory is vital, cheating, plagiarism, or knowingly furnishing false information to the university constitutes a violation. Where evidence exists that a violation has been committed a grade of 0 will be awarded to that particular assignment. In the case of multiple violations the instructor reserves the right to drop the student from the course with a grade of¬Ý WF. Occassionally work has been "shared" between members of a class. Beware of this! If I see you have shared your work with others- you will also share the grade- evenly divided amongst the "sharers". This situation will be regarded as plagiarism.
