HOW TO BE PREPARED FOR A LAB GROUP PRESENTATION

When you come into lab this week, your group1 must have:

1.      Prepared a final figure2 of the results from your investigation. You will be required to reproduce it on the blackboard when you come into lab. (5 pts)

You also need to come prepared to give an oral presentation covering each of the following points:

2.   State your hypothesis. (1 pt)

3.      Provide a brief explanation of the experimental design. (1 pt)

4.      Determine the trends in the data (if any). (1 pt)

5.      Determine if the results support the hypothesis. (1 pt)

6.      Explain your results in terms of the relevant biological principle involved. (1 pt)

7.      List ways that the experiment could be improved if it was repeated. (2 pts)

You should work together as a group to come up with the answers. Each person in the group should participate in the class presentation. You will be graded as a group and earn a quiz grade based on the quality of your figure and responses to points 2-7, plus the questions asked of the other groups.

1Note: The results of these presentations are fair game for further lab quizzes.

2A final figure must have a: 1) figure number, 2) title and 3) legend (two sentences that describe the trend in the data and the amount of replication)
