Lesson Plan Assignment
Goal: Teacher candidates(TCs) will create a lesson plan for
their specific certificate area, using college templates and pedagogical
resources. TCs will incorporate knowledge of students’ needs based on learning
and development theory to develop a coherent plan with specific goals based on
state frameworks.
Requirements: You will submit a lesson plan to match your
licensure area. Plan for a classroom where you are teaching your dream class at
your dream school with your dream subject/topic. Use your specific college’s
template if known, otherwise use the UCA middle-level template or Department of
Teaching & Learning MAT template with additional planning requirements as
provided below. If you use a different template, include source and rationale.
The lesson plan must have the following: grade level,
subject, lesson goal, matching state frameworks, essential question, assessment
plan including both formative and summative plan, specific activities for a 50
minute class period.
For this course, some specific requirements include the
following: a plan analysis that describes two specific students who will benefit
from specific activities in the lesson (one advanced and one challenged), a
specific cultural diversity present that is provided attention in the lesson, a
general description of the students, school, and general needs of student
body/class. How does this lesson match local, state and national standards for
this subject area? Also, describe three ways that you get to know your students
before planning this lesson. Describe how you communicate with parents either in
preparation for the lesson or in conjunction with the lesson. Describe resources
used in planning or implementing your plan; it is good to demonstrate awareness
of school and community resources. Finally, how will you know before this lesson
that the students are ready for this lesson?
