Recommended HW and Practice
Note: Solutions to most problems for this class are in MS Excel
spreadsheets--if you don't know how to use Excel, learn! It is perhaps the
most commonly used computational tool for solving business problems
(quantitative problems, that is).

location problems from handout
Class
Practice (more practice transportation
model)--will be done in class "by hand."
Problem 3 from the book should be done with the solver. Notice that it
is a profit maximizing problem.
MORE PRACTICE--Marc Smith Construction (by solver in
Excel). Do it
with
the solver for practice. Note that it is a cost minimizing problem.
iteration 1,
iteration 2. The iterations are for the transportation model
approach "by hand." Don't try the "by hand" approach until I show you
how it is done.

Chapter 15 Problems 5, 7 and 2, 14, 15, 20 and 27
Chapter 17 Problems 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 10, 14, 15, 20, 21
Chapter 18 We will work a problem in class and I will hand out some from old tests.
