Currently the department has two astrophysicists on staff, Scott Austin and Debra Burris.
The astronomical facilities include an observatory and a planetarium.
We offer a general education astronomy course (Descriptive Astronomy), general astronomy courses for those majoring or minoring in science (College Astronomy and Observational Astronomy), an upper division astrophysics course, and Special Topics in Astronomy research classes.
Undergraduate research opportunities in astronomy include various observational, theoretical, and computational projects in stellar astrophysics and asteroids.
Public outreach opportunities are also available through both the observatory and planetarium.
