Experiments, Variables, and Graphs (Online Exercise)

Strictly online exercise introducing the concept of developing a hypothesis, identifying the independent and dependent variables, and presenting results graphically. Students interpret their graphs by analyzing slope and intercept.

Student Objectives

  • Identify the difference between independent and dependent variables in experimental settings
  • Recognize the best way to experimentally test the relationship between two variables
  • Determine the proper way to graphically present data
  • Analyze graphical data by calculating the linear slope
  • Use graphical methods to predict and extrapolate from data
