This lab examines the difference between convex and concave lenses. A real image is produced and measured using a convex lens. The lens equation is introduced, as well as the magnification ratio.
Student Objectives
- Identify the differences between concave and convex lenses
- Use the lens equation to determine the focal length of a convex lens
- Construct ray diagrams to accurately show how an image is formed
- Demonstrate the difference between a near– and far–sighted eye, and show how each vision problem can be corrected
