Gas Laws

This lab demonstrates graphically the inverse relationship between volume and pressure at constant temperature (Boyle's Law), and the direct relationship between pressure and temperature at constant volume (Gay-Lussac's Law).

Student Objectives

  • Examine Gay-Lussac’s Law for constant volume
  • Demonstrate Boyle’s Law for constant temperature
  • Derive Charles’ Law for constant pressure
  • Combine these laws to formulate the Ideal Gas Law
