The orange circle traces out the path of the Earth's precession. If there's no star on that orange circle, then there is no star aligned with the Earth's axis of rotation. We have Polaris as a pole star right now, but you would have to go back all the way to about 3000BCE (far earlier than the ancient Greeks) to see another pole star.
